Painted Ornaments

A few years ago, I had the girls craft lightbulb reindeer ornaments to give to all of their aunts and uncles for Christmas.  Since Jamie was not with us on Christmas and Lexy was in Florida visiting their mom, I decided not to have them do anything last year.  This year, since everyone is home again (yay!) and we have the girls for Christmas, I wanted them to make gifts again, and I saw this idea on Pinterest.

You need:
Glass Christmas bulbs (I got mine at Michael's)
Acrylic paint
Ribbon
Egg cartons/styrofoam cups so the paint can drip out

Directions:
-Remove the hanger caps
-Put drops of paint on the inside of the ornaments and swirl around
-Watch as the colors blend together
-Place the ornaments upside down so the excess paint drips off
-When completely dry, reattach the hanger caps and then add a ribbon so the ornaments can be hung on a tree

Footprint Christmas Tree

I pinned this idea (you know, pinned...as in Pinterest...but I know that YOU know that) thinking it would be a simple Christmas craft.  CLEARLY I had no idea how difficult working with a one-year old would be (as demonstrated by the salt dough ornament debacle of 2011).  This one took two different canvasses but eventually I decided that less than perfect was perfect. Here was the original:

Little man is very ticklish and kept curling his monkey toes.  So it looks like he is missing some.  And I forgot to put on the trunk of the tree.  Oh well.

I plan on rehanging it yearly in our photo wall.  To remind me of how tiny little man once was :)

I used acrylic paint.  And stained the changing table cover with green.  Ah well.  Such is life with kids!

Fall Pinterest Challenge

A few days ago, I saw that Sherry and Katie were hosting a Pinterest Challenge! The challenge? Actually create something you have Pinned and put your own spin on it!

I wanted to spend as little as possible on it. At Michael's, the day before Halloween, I found a black wreath and some mini ornaments on clearance! I spent right around $5.00.

I busted out the hot glue gun, and this was the result:

I have extra ornaments, so I think I will add some more next year. And I want to change the ribbon for something bigger. But other than that, love it! Here are Katie's, Sherry's, Ana's, and Erin's.
